THE CORE IDEA

What is an automatic expense tracker?

An automatic expense tracker reduces the need to type every purchase by hand. Instead, it identifies supported financial transaction alerts already reaching your phone and converts them into an organised history that you can review.

For India, that history needs to make sense of more than conventional card purchases. Everyday money can move through UPI, bank accounts, credit cards, refunds and transfers between a person's own accounts. A useful tracker should preserve those differences rather than treating every debit as identical spending.

PaisaZen in one sentence

PaisaZen is an Android automatic expense tracker for India that understands supported bank, UPI and credit-card transaction alerts while keeping you in control of the final record.

FROM ALERT TO HISTORY

How automatic tracking works in PaisaZen

  1. 01

    A supported alert arrives

Your bank, card issuer or payment activity generates a supported financial transaction alert on your Android device.

  2. 02

    On-device intelligence interprets it

PaisaZen identifies details such as the amount, transaction direction and likely financial meaning. Processing for supported alerts occurs on the device.

  3. 03

    The activity is organised

The result appears in your transaction history with an appropriate spending or money-movement context.

  4. 04

    You review the result

You can correct a category, change whether something counts as spending, add a note or remove an item when needed.

Manual entry remains available for a transaction that was not represented by a supported alert. Automation does the repetitive first pass; your review keeps the financial picture personal and accurate.

MEANING MATTERS

Not every debit is a new expense

Expense totals become misleading when money movements are counted as purchases. Paying a credit-card bill is different from making the original card purchase. Moving money between your own accounts is different from paying a merchant. A refund should not look like fresh income without context.

UPI

Everyday payment

A supported UPI purchase can count towards spending and be organised in your history.

CARD

Card purchase

The purchase is spending; a later bill payment can be kept separate to reduce double counting.

TRANSFER

Own-money movement

A likely self-transfer can be reviewed and excluded from everyday spending totals.

REVERSAL

Refund or reversal

Returned money can retain its financial meaning instead of appearing as an unrelated transaction.

Financial Details lets you confirm supported accounts, cards and UPI identities that belong to you. That context can improve how PaisaZen understands transfers and card payments.

LOCAL-FIRST CONTROL

Automation should not make privacy invisible

PaisaZen asks for the permissions needed for the tracking sources you choose. Supported transaction-alert processing in the current Android build happens locally on your device. You can review the generated records and revoke app permissions through Android settings.

The current V29 release uses supported financial SMS alerts only when you approve Android SMS permission. The PaisaZen Privacy Policy explains the current data flow and your controls.

PaisaZen does not move money, hold funds, provide a bank account or initiate UPI payments. It helps organise and understand the transaction information represented by supported alerts.

A PRACTICAL FIT

Who benefits from automatic expense tracking?

PaisaZen is designed for Android users in India who want a clearer view of everyday expenses without maintaining a spreadsheet after every payment. It can be especially useful when activity is spread across UPI, bank accounts and credit cards, or when self-transfers and card-bill payments make basic debit totals confusing.

  • You make frequent UPI or card payments.
  • You want automatic organisation with the ability to correct results.
  • You move money between your own accounts.
  • You want card purchases and card-bill payments treated differently.
  • You prefer an Android tracker designed around Indian transaction alerts.
